Sources – Document Publications

In the “Bibliography” section, there is also a subsection dedicated to various published sources – collections and individual types of documents related to both the Crimean and Nadazov periods of the history of the Mariupol Greeks. These are grouped into four categories:

1. Individual textual documents (e.g., laws of the Russian Empire concerning the legal status of Greeks) and collections containing archives on a specific theme, chronology, or individual;
2. Cartographic documents –published maps of the region inhabited by the Mariupol Greeks in Crimea and Nadazov region;
3. Various population censuses and other statistical information;
4. Musical documents – records and CDs with original recordings of the folklore of the Mariupol Greeks.

The Cyrillic alphabet was used as the basis for each of these categories, while publications in foreign languages are listed at the end of each section. It is worth noting that some publications may appear in different categories.

Researchers should also refer to other subsections of the bibliography, especially as some documents were published after 2013 in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and the Russian Federation. The appropriateness of referencing certain publications is left to your discretion. Additionally, some archival documents, as well as interesting sources like travel logs and memoirs, were published under the “Author’s Publications” and “Collections” subsections.

We encourage researchers to be objective, adhere to scholarly ethics, and critically evaluate certain conclusions, assessments, and comments found in some of the listed publications, as they were created and published in different historical periods and from different ideological perspectives.

The listed selections are not exhaustive. We hope that in the future we will be able to significantly expand this list of publications.
