Publications Released after 2013 in the Russian Federation and on Occupied Territories of Ukraine

This subsection of the bibliography includes monographs, articles, collections, documents, and reference materials that were published after 2013 in the Russian Federation and in the territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russia. The publications listed here are relevant to any other subsection of the bibliography on our website. They focus on research concerning the history and culture of the Mariupol Greeks (primarily the Crimean period), as well as their possible ancestors and neighbors in Crimea and Nadazov region.

Some of the works included in this section were published by researchers, local historians, and politicians who are currently suspected of or have already been accused of collaborating with occupying forces. However, these publications contain interesting factual material and can be useful in ethnological, political, sociocultural, and historiographical studies. In particular, in recent years, archival documents (including the translations of Ottoman-period documents), cartographic materials, some collections from Crimean museum holdings, and results from archaeological, anthropological, and ethnogenetic studies have been published, significantly strengthening the source base. However, some conclusions and comments made by the publishers are highly debatable and, in some cases, politically motivated. Therefore, we urge researchers to remain objective, adhere to scientific scholarly ethics, and critically evaluate certain conclusions, assessments, and comments found in the listed works. The appropriateness of citing specific publications is left to your discretion.
