The All-Ukrainian Scholarly and Practical Forum

On September 26, 2024, the All-Ukrainian Scholarly and Practical Forum titled “Greeks of Ukraine: Preserving Identity Amid Russian Aggression. Socio-Political, Historical-Cultural, and Linguistic Aspects” took place in Kyiv. The event was initiated by Ukraine’s State Service for Ethnopolitics in cooperation with the Federation of Greek Societies of Ukraine and Mariupol State University. Forum participants, including representatives from Greek communities, government institutions, international organizations, and academic institutions, gathered to discuss the preservation of the centuries-old culture of Ukraine’s Greek community and the current challenges it faces due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Special attention was given to issues confronting Greeks living in temporarily occupied territories, as well as matters of preserving the ethnic, linguistic, and national identity of Ukraine’s Greeks; adapting displaced Greeks within new communities; and supporting the preservation and development of Greek culture, including the Urum and Rumei dialects of Nadazov Greeks.
The forum’s work was organized in a series of panel discussions. For more details about the event, visit: https://dess.gov.ua/vseukrainskyy-naukovo-praktychnyy-forum-hreky-ukrainy/.
